I am a lifelong resident of Des Moines, IA, and I love the hard-working people in this community. I had a great childhood here, so when my wife and I were looking for our first home after we got married 26 years ago, we found one on the same street I grew up on. We are still here raising our family today. This is one of the reasons I care about this side of town and the great state of Iowa.
Once a week, I get together with a faithful group of men to talk about life and faith and ask questions like, “Are we doing everything we can to improve society for good?” and “How else can we apply our faith to ensure a better future for generations?” I once heard the quote, “Sidelines are where freedoms go to die,” and I could no longer remain on the sidelines. So, after some soul-searching, seeking wisdom, and prayer, I took the leap of faith and am now officially running for the Iowa Senate seat in District 20.
As a business owner for 25 years, my employee-partners and I have established a reputation for honesty, ethics, and fairness, taking pride in our work. I am no stranger to hard work, which I will take with me to the Iowa Senate. I’m just a middle-class, blue-collar guy running to represent my neighbors and stand up for my children’s futures. From my days on the football field and wrestling mats of North High School to today, I continue to be intense and fiercely competitive. My immediate goal is to win. My ultimate goal is to fight and win battles for the State of Iowa.
